Reformed in 1989, 25 (F) Squadron is now based at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire operating the Tornado F3.  The F3 is the RAF designation for the Tornado ADV (Air Defence Variant) designed for long-range interception and air defence in all weathers by day or night.  The F3 can engage and destroy several hostile aircraft in one mission and neutralise high flying targets as well as penetrators at high speed and low level.
